I fell victim to Rare Medium's last round of lay-offs two weeks ago. While
the job market in Dallas continues to be relatively good, I have run into
the situation Peter describes where many people still don't understand what
IA is.
I'm trying to repackage myself to some extent. That is to say, present my
skills within different contexts. I've discussed a position as a Process
Engineer with a large firm here in town. That role is a liason betwen a
particular business unit and the IT department. It involves gathering
requirements, doing cost benefit analysis and creating a development plan.
Maybe it will pan out. It's still a little early to tell. My phone isn't
ringing off the hook...yet. [Geez! Don't they know who I am! ;-)]
I too am optimistic of the future of this role and hope that I can stay
engaged as an IA while things get busy again.
Best of luck to all of you in the same boat and to those of you who are
still employed. May you stay that way.
