What's interesting about these two cases is they don't change the
underlying functionality. It's just a change to the skin.
Earlier this year, HP launched a Shrek PC (at the same time as the
movie's release) that actually changed the standard operating system
skins to be green-shrek-like and added some custom software. This
goes a little further.
If NEC was changing software/functionality to be more "pink", then
I'd think you'd have something to get all perturbed about. But, just
skinning the machine to match a niche desire seems harmless to me.
